2015

Footprints imprinted in the sand leaving their mark on the world.

Wondering who was here before us.

Captured moments.

Moments forgotten.

The crashing of waves overlapping each other.

The comforting sun.

Our own shadow following us, knowing all our secrets hidden within.

Letting the wind whisk away the bad memories.

Lost within the rush.

Letting our shadows become reflections of who we are.

Becoming vulnerable to the vast ocean.

Falling into the openness.

Fading.

Coffee Break

On this delightful sunday morning I decided to overcome my displeasing thoughts on coffee.

I used the little espresso machine in our kitchen and made myself the smallest portion I could make. When I looked at the little cup seemingly warm and welcoming I thought perhaps that this time it would be a sweet and calming afternoon delight.

I thought wrong. It’s warm and welcoming exterior hides its strong, bitter and robust interior which was not in any way a delight.

I tried to add milk. That didn’t work, and there isn’t enough sugar in the world to take away it’s acidity.

It was an eruption in my mouth. (Not the good one with all my tastebuds singing.)

In the end I’m not the biggest fan of coffee out there.

But I did enjoy the smell.

Here are some other finds of the day!

The Nutcracker

Today I saw the Nutcracker at the San Francisco Opera and it was beautiful. The ceilings were decorated with an infinite spread of gold intricacies that lit up the entire room without needing any source of light. I won’t be going on and on about the exact scenes that took place but I will say that my favorite scene was that of the ribbon dancers! It was also a really chilly day here in SF, but that didn’t stop me from creating a fun look!

Holiday finds

Hey guys!

Hope you all had an amazing holiday and awesome pressies!
I got a couple awesome things for the holidays and thought why not share with you all my awesome finds!

I got this rad vintage watch that belonged to my great grandmother and I love it! With a black leather wrist band and a platinum watch! Is this love?

I got the new 2014 updated Teen Vogue handbook and it’s incredible! It has all the tips and tricks for helping you get a career and developing your eye for fashion and writing. I especially loved the section where they interview different editors to get different perspectives on what they look for in an intern and how they got to the top! One of my best purchases (with a books inc. gift card) yet!

My aunt surprised me with my dream gift: a new washed jean jacket (that I will forever be in love with)! Perfect find. Perfect fit. I also decorated it with a daisy pin I found at this fabric store a couple months ago and thought it accented the jacket perfectly creating a more playful look!
(You can get the perfect jean jacket @GAP)
+ I got this Bordeaux colored infinity scarf which I have been dreaming of ever since Portugal and it goes perfectly with everything!

The other plus is that I got $20! Planned on saving it for a decent item yet spent it the next day on polaroid film @URBANOUTFITTERS that was actually an AWESOME purchase because I then had a fun photography day through the streets of Chinatown. Also ate at Neiman Marcus (the cafe not the Rotunda because I’m broke)!

Another item that entered into my life was this clean and crisp navy blue @ZARA bag that I fell in love with at first sight. It’s long and has the perfect cut. It’s beauty is indescribable.

SHARE WITH ME what you guys got by sending me pictures! I’d love to see all your pressies!

Unexpected

Traveling.

It’s as if I have been here before and I was transported back to a life I never knew I lived. It’s pure and it’s unexpected. It’s living.

Discovering.

The little things that make any day an incredible day.

Experiencing.

The pure things.

They are hidden in the deepest parts of our minds, trapped behind our image. They show in times we let go, yet hide when they are vulnerable. When everything is unprecedented our pure senses shine through and we let go. We let all the stress go, we let the bad times roll of our backs and we let all tenseness fly away. We let ourself be itself. We let those hidden parts of us become our image and we glow. We glow with pure emotion and pure thoughts. We don’t mask the pain because with the pure emotion we fight off all the bad. Maybe we feel vulnerable yet we are in that moment the strongest. In that moment we can only feel what we choose to feel and we don’t bother the reality that tries to settle in. We simply let go and break the barrier our minds are trapped in. When we feel vulnerable sometimes we hide in the image we think we are. In the image we think we are supposed to be defined as. We only want to be what people want and forget to find ourselves first. We think that maybe our pureness will be hard to except. We become our own barrier and we forget to feel pure emotion. We then forget who we are. We make another image to hide the emptiness that expands yet holds so much force it holds us together for long enough. Once you learn to let go of that image you created, you then become the pure image of who you are.

Find in every day the unknown, the surprise, the unexpected, the happiness…always let everything come in as a new opportunity. Always stay a little unaware of what you know is coming so that everything can be part of who you are and part of your own story.

Life in Portugal

“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves, and we travel, next, to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again—to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.” Pico Iyer

“Travel is little beds and cramped bathrooms. It’s old television sets and slow Internet connections. Travel is extraordinary conversations with ordinary people. It’s waiters, gas station attendants, and housekeepers becoming the most interesting people in the world. It’s churches that are compelling enough to enter. It’s McDonald’s being a luxury. It’s the realization that you may have been born in the wrong country. Travel is a smile that leads to a conversation in broken English. It’s the epiphany that pretty girls smile the same way all over the world. Travel is tipping 10% and being embraced for it. Travel is the same white T-shirt again tomorrow. Travel is accented sex after good wine and too many unfiltered cigarettes. Travel is flowing in the back of a bus with giggly strangers. It’s a street full of bearded backpackers looking down at maps. Travel is wishing for one more bite of whatever that just was. It’s the rediscovery of walking somewhere. It’s sharing a bottle of liquor on an overnight train with a new friend. Travel is “Maybe I don’t have to do it that way when I get back home.” Nick Miller

“No one realises how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” Lin Yutang

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” Terry Pratchett

Adventures in Portugal

If you all have not already learned I’m in Portugal at the moment and having a blast adventuring through different experiences with my cousins and others along the way. Also, if you have all not already noticed, I’m not a very organized and scheduled writer due to the obvious fact that I write in a very irregular pattern. Anyway, today my lovely readers I thought I should let you all in on my crazy adventure yesterday through the town of Praia Do Ribatejo in Portugal! Well first my brother, my cousin and I were all boring ourselves on our own little machines that had taken away our social abilities and taken us away from the beauty of our surroundings, so we thought why not discover the neighborhood we find so familiar yet know not enough of. We decided to visit one of the abandoned factories that was waiting just at the end of the road to be found. We brought our cameras and decided to be photographers for the day. We explored the interior of the isolated factory and stepped carefully over shards of glass and gun shells. The sun covered our faces with its’ warming glow which filled our minds with a reassuring feeling that this wasn’t a dangerous place. In the midst of searching for an inspiration for an amazing photo, a car stopped a couple feet away from where we were looking through the lenses of our cameras and we were scared for our lives. Scared that we would be arrested for trespassing or some sort of trouble, but the man was so harmless we traveled with him through the outskirts of the dead buildings and through different parts we were too innocent to go alone. His name was Pedro Rodrigues and he was a Photographer just inspired to search for inspiration just like us. We then all became friends and he shared with us his Instagram and we all then went back to those mind sucking machines that just might not after all take us away from the social life around us.

It was a wonderful day and here are some pictures that I took that I love and hope you all enjoy as well!
